If you thought that micro targeted ads were invasive, wait until you hear what marketers have in store for us in the next two to three years.

It’s called dream incubation and it makes micro targeted ads look like an innocent case of eavesdropping.

Some of our favorite companies — Coors Light, Microsoft, Sony and Burger King have been experimenting with ways to engineer ad content to be delivered directly into your dreams.

If you think this is a conspiracy cooked up by Trump followers to make the liberal left look like control freaks, just check out the videos at youtube.

About two weeks ago I wrote about Microsoft crossing the creepy line in another story, but this takes the cake. Imagine you’re dreaming about the future love of your life and just as you’re about to pop the big question suddenly an ad for a new and improved version of your favorite laundry detergent pops up.

If that doesn’t make all of us shudder it means we’re getting to comfortable with our devices. May it’s time we all take a big step back and rethink our relationship with our hand held screen. And don’t forget about all those listening devices in the home. Soon they are not just going to be there to make our lives easier.

I understand we live in a competitive world, but this is going a little too far. It’s bad enough we’ve all been trained from birth to be ravenous consumers, which isn’t helping the global warming crisis any, but now big business wants us to eat, sleep and dream consumption.

That’s beyond frightening.

About forty scientists got together and wrote a letter to the FDA, urging the powers that be to start thinking about the new invasion of privacy laws that will have to put on the books, and for that we should be grateful

Now, some of those scientist also think that this new technology could have some beneficial effects, such as helping people with certain psychiatric problems. That’s all good and well, but what we all should be seriously worried about is what certain government entities might be thinking about doing with this wonderful new technology.

It’s been forty years since I graduated high school, but I can’t stop thinking about 1984. I think it’s time to give George Orwell’s masterpiece another read.

Anyone thinking thought police?
